The State Examinations Commission (SEC) is leading a comprehensive review of the Reasonable Accommodations at Certificate Examinations (RACE) Scheme.

National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA)


The Background Paper and Brief for the Review of Senior Cycle Physical Education has been approved for public consultation.

The consultation period runs from the 2nd of March until the 24th of April. 



The Draft Specification for Leaving Certificate History has been approved for public consultation.

The consultation period runs from the 2nd of March to the 1st of May.


The Draft Specification for Leaving Certificate Home Economics has been approved for public consultation.


The consultation period runs from Monday 9th Febraury 2026 until Friday 17th April 2026 at 5pm.



The Draft Specification for Leaving Certificate Physical Science (formerly known as Physics and Chemistry) has been approved for public consultation.


The consultation period runs from Monday, 9th of February 2026 until Friday, 17th of April 2026.



The draft specification for Leaving Certificate Music was made available for consultation from 5th January 2026 until 2nd March 2026. The consultation is now closed.

Research

NAPD met with Minister McEntee when she took up office and strongly advocated for a review of Circular 0003/2018. This review has begun. NAPD have engaged Dr. Finn O’ Murchú to carry out some research. He is currently working with many schools, their SLTs and their MLTs who worked on the design of this survey.  We invite you to share with your staff.

NAPD Symposium 2026

Congratulations to NAPD President Brian Doran for a very successful annual Symposium yesterday with 135 education stakeholders and partners. The event was focussed on Senior Cycle Redevelopment with lots of robust discussion on CAO and pathways for students. Thank you to those members who joined us live online.
